Plaza last sizing w/ desert boots

Hi guys,

New here. I know this has been discussed elsewhere, and I saw the threads on plaza last sizing. I wear 7.5 in clarks desert boots and they are fairly snug (fine with thin socks, but tight with athletic socks). I jumped on the pre-order for CXL plaza wingtip boots in 8D. Do you think that was the proper choice or should I have gone with a 7.5D?
