Do you ever get dirty looks from people about the way you dress?

Yes? No?

lol8[1].gif, why would you even care about that small segment of judgemental society that allow themselves to be all hot and bothered at the mere notion of someone following their creative sartorial sense.

Furthermore, why would you allow your mind to be disturbed over dirty looks, if they want to give dirty looks, let them give dirty looks, who cares. Perhaps their dirty looks are related to tufts of hair appearing out your nostrils or elf hairs in your ears. Just kidding BTW.

It is a hobby we hopefully enjoy and appreciate, but taken out of context, the rare narcisistic zealot allows his inner sanctum to embrace its deepest paranoid delusions over what a small percentage of people may perceive of him.

While I cannot actually see Manton through the computer, I would say most assuredly yes.

One kid at business school always makes comments about the way I dress when we're suited up for recruiting events. He likes to make fun of my ties b/c they often have color, aren't tied in a fist sized knot and aren't trump collection. He's an idiot.

Yes, though i´m not sure they´re dirty looks, but they do see me as if i were an oddball, and I dress in a pretty normal way. The thing is, here, in my city, even though it´s not a small place (250 thousand), fashion is something most of them are completely unaware of. You walk downtown and you encounter a sea of sweatpants, ill fitting jeans, nasty hoodies and just about every god awful thing there is wrong about clothing. So when i put blazer that fits, or one of my leather jackets with some torn or destroyed jeans, or some decent high tops,  or just a fucking shirt that would be so so in any normal environment, I know i´m being observed. And it´s not as if  there weren´t any other guys who dressed a bit different from the rest; I think is just the fact that you´re wearing clothes that fit that makes them feel they are looking at something never seen before XD You may think I´m exagerating, but if I showed some pics of people during a week day, you´d believe me. And in the weekends is when it gets worse. The sea of sweatpants becomes an ocean. I mean, I understand you wanna relax on saturday and sunday, but hell, you can do that with a pair of jeans, trouser, chinos, khakis, whatever, just leave the sweatpants for going to the gym when it´s chilly, like I do.

If by 'dirty looks' you mean 'women licking their lips', then yes. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

how can you be sure it's the way you dress they're looking at anyway - maybe you have dirt on your face perhaps?

If people find the way your dress appalling, then perhaps you are doing it wrong foo.gif

Agreed. If several people are giving you looks then you might have ventured to the deep end and you have to re-examine your personal style

Never, not once...but I'm usually appropriately dressed for my surroundings. I imagine that sort of thing happens to people who sear suits to honky-tonks and biker bars.

Only women with a dirty look when they come with me to the bathroom, probably not good.

I have experienced first hand reactions beyond "dirty looks". I have had other men feel threatened by my sharp dressing.

I was on the sidewalk with a girl whilst another party was parking the car and a drunken man in his early 20s came over and begun mouthing off to me with the following comments:

"you think you're better than me cuz you have a blazer and a job?!?"

He felt threatened that I was communicating success through my clothes which this guy had very little of. Bold clothing choices send messages and weak people who have nothing going for them sometimes take offense.

There are lots of unemployed/underemployed people who are fearful about there position in life and they feel threatened by people who have it better than them.

You just answered that homeless guy's question.
