I examined this suit closely last night and noticed the following additional things for your consideration: 1) there is canvas all the way down to the jacket waist hem on both the left and right jacket front sides, but the back side going down to the middle vent piece does not have any canvas that I could feel; 2) the exterior jacket chest pocket and both exterior waist pockets were stitched shut and I opened one of the waist pockets and it is functioning; 3) the lining does not feel like acetate to me, but it is different than the lining on all my other Brioni suits; 4) you will notice that the jacket waist pockets are slanted and this is different than any of my Brionis; 5) there is what looks like to me to be some pick stitching on the exterior pockets and on the trousers, but not on the lapels; and 6) lapels appear to me be to rolled.

In addition, I took additional detailed photographs of this suit last night. I hope you knowledgeable folks can give me your final verdict on whether this suit is an authentic Brioni or a fake. These photographs will be coming in the next few messages from me. Thanks for your time and input.

Jacket Interior Brioni Label

Size label in interior jacket chest pocket (by the way I saw the same label in same location on an authentic Brioni). Someone, however, could have just sewn in authentic label.

Here are the trousers. The end of the pant leg has a material strip sewn in that I have never seen on any pants as photographed here. Also there is a black piece of material on the interior placed behind the back pockets on both sides. Crotch has fabric piece sewn in.

Finally, here is that blue rectangular label that I mentioned that is on the interior of the collar. Thanks again for your input. Is this suit a real Brioni or is it a fake?

Jsingh emailed me the photos and I've selected a few which show that this is absolutely fake.

This is a machine-made buttonhole. And a badly made one at that. Brioni makes splendid buttonholes BY HAND

This undercollar was applied by machine, using the bottom of the barrel in terms of technique. The square corner and the zig-zag stitching are the giveaways. Brioni would have a rounded edge, the felt would lap at least 1/4" lower than the gorge seam, and it would be sewn on by hand (or at worst with an AMF machine)

The belt loops have been made on a double needle machine, and the waistband has been channel stitched to fell it, rather than using a blindstitch. Again, bottom of the construction barrel.

This suit is worth $150 at retail, brand new. Send it back to the seller. That he told you some story about its provenance suggests he knows what he's selling is fake.

Sorry.

and leave him bad feedback... and don't just write "it's a fake" because he can reply to your comment and say it's not.

Write that a member of the executive committee of the International Association of Clothing Designers and Executives said it was a fake.

Wow, that does look fake now.

I also noticed that the label tag was: Badly stiched / machined. Brioni tag is also a possible counterfeit - given the position of the Roma and the poor letter quality.

I personally believe now this suit is some generic brand picked up at a suit warehouse, and had a Brioni tag sewed on.

What the OP should do is esculate the case, get a full refund, and apply discression in leaving negative feedback.

I personally do not like hurting other sellers feedback - it is possible the seller picked it up thrifting or at an estate sale and thus would be none the wiser real / fake. If you notice other fakes from the seller, hit that negative feedback button immediately since it is the duty of a good citizen to inform other buyers this seller is no good. But if it is a genuine seller mistake / seller not in the know, a strongly worded email (indicating to the seller to be more mindful on the stuff he is selling) would suffice and leave positive if the seller plays ball or just not leave any feedback at all.

I stand corrected - absolutely fake. I should have said "The inside TAG is an authentic Brioni TAG", which of course doesn't mean the garment on which the tag is sewn is Brioni.

It's so easy and cheap to copy labels. And the main label was very cheaply copied.
