1" tie space

Too much? I noticed that my tie kept falling slightly out of place with a Jantzen shirt with 3/4" tie space, so I went up to 1" for this order (Ricky from Jantzen remarked that that was too big over the phone) and it seems to stay put substantially better. I recall Michael Alden posting that he went with the same measure. What do you all think?

I think it works... but it also may start to look like a 'style', ie it'll eventually become dated or tired.

and of course it may just be hiding the real fit problem (which I don't know what it is)

Looks great to me - like there is more substance to that space. It strikes me as a serious, refined look.

I prefer zero tie space, so it's not for me. Your collar band looks way too big as well.

While that might be a stylistic preference, there is absolutely no way you can fit a thick tie without substantial tie space, unless you have an extreme cut away collar. The tie in the pic below, for example, is from Altea and perhaps the thickest I have, and even with the large (~ 3/4") tie space the shirt has it still looks slightly off, but not with the 1" space:

The knot looks fine to me. The dimple I prefer nearer the middle of the tie, like in your later pic, rather than the tie being folded over nearer the edge of the knot as in your first set of pics; the knot itself is perfectly fine though. I suspect GrovelVine is just an idiot and/or noob.

I'm confused......

Doesn't 'tie space' refer to the horizontal distance between where the collar hits the collar band?

But this post seems to address the height of the collar band.

Isn't this two different things?
