I ran across this in a trade publication. Anyone heard of the brand before?

+1 it looks great, also does anyone know the advantage of the satin band? I don't wear ties much but am interested in them

That's nifty, and I wish him success. But cotton? I wonder how that wears and holds up. I'm no fan of wool, and I have a suspicion I'll wish these were silk.

^ was thinking the same thing - I love my silk knits, but I do have a cotton knit that ain't bad. Would love to see in IRL.

Very cool. The article says the ties don't have a satin neckband, and that's how the price is kept down. Is that a big deal?

I might actually prefer not having a satin neckband, since it's not always put in the correct spot for my length. It ends up poking out of my knot in weird ways.

Eh, I don't know. Cotton, silk--what's the diff? It's just a tie...

^ I prefer burlap, myself. Connects me to my potato-packing brethren.

The advantage of the satin neckband is that it keeps the portion of the tie that is tied around your neck from stretching out of shape. As this is the portion of the tie that get's the most tension/pulling I believe it is a nice feature to have in the long run. But if these ties are quite inexpensive then perhaps the long run is not an issue.

The difference will be substantial in terms of sheen. A silk knit tie is lusterous and a bit shiny. A cotton one will be matt.

Silk is very strong and dimensionally stable - cotton expands and contracts. So these cotton ties without a satin neck band are pretty likely to be fairly stretchy. But - for the price perhaps that's not an issue.

^^ Good points sir. Still I think cotton would be worth a try.

I completely agree - I've had cotton knit ties in the past - they are particularly nice for casual summer fits with cotton sports coats and OCBDs.

I bought a knit cotton tie once a few years ago. It was a real failure after wearing it one or two times. Knit cotton will pill right away and doesn't have the look or the feel of silk.

My favorite knit ties are either 100% silk, cashmere or silk and cashmere blends. I hope they will try them.
