Need Help Identifying Authenticity

Thread Starter

Hello! I am new to the forum but have been searching SF for quite some time. I currently, and in the past, have used the forum as an informative guide to style; mainly to research quality and fit of different items.

Anyway, the reason why I chose to introduce myself in this particular thread is because I have began thrifting (its hard to purchase new clothing when its your first year in the workforce and you need to payback those hefty college loans) and have come across some great items, but have also come across my share of counterfeits. I come here as a sponge, many of you are extremely knowledgeable and informative. I wish to learn from you on how to date different items and pick the quality over the not so quality, and hopefully in the future feel comfortable enough to post with the big boys and dabble slightly in eBay flipping. With that said, I have an item that I am unsure of. Please forgive me if this may seem obvious to some but I have come across a D&G polo and have used google to try and help me determine the authenticity of the item but I have never come across an item by D&G before. To be honest, I have never even seen a D&G item up close. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind helping a "newbie" out. Thanks in advance! (Tried to post this in the thirfting thread but received no responses)

Offering an incentive, free tie by GANT to the first person that answers (pm me your information).

Don't need the tie, but that looks fake. The D&G trim around the collar looks wrong, and if Im not mistaken it looks like it says Made in France? closer pictures of the labels would help. That hologram says Ittiere?

It says Made in Macau. I have never heard of anything by D&G Made in Macau although I must confess I really don't know anything about D&G. In addition, I've researched what the hologram should look like and this particular hologram is close. It is the correct size and says D&G in the middle that can barely be made out but it does say Ittiere (I have no idea what that means). That's why I came to ask. Your suspicions are mine as well so I think I can make the determination that the tie is fake. Thanks for your response.
