Iron Chef on DVD

Not the US version. I was watching a Japan Iron Chef show tonight and was reminded of how great these culinary masters were. The US version simply can't compare. Sign this petition so hopefully we'll have the entire Iron Chef series on DVD. Any fans here?

but WHERE is Chairman Kaga?!?!?

Surely he has someone he could call at FujiTV, pull some strings, and get the ball rolling?

Maybe the Chairman is hoarding the shows in his personal library.

I don't know how popular this show is in Japan, but it seems to have a pretty strong following worldwide. Personally, I was inspired to learn how to cook more than just the typical egg or noodle dishes from watching these battles.

Thanks to the Chairman, Fuku-san, and Iron Chef Morimoto, I eat panda bear brain ice-cream with a foi gras flan and deep fried tempura-style sea turtle skin chips every night for dessert.

They seem to have crap bandwith from the times that I have watched, but if you let it buffer while you are doing something else, then you can watch it straight through

It seems Iron Chef featured meals made with the same substances out of which kitonbrioni has shoes. Results were more appetizing on Iron Chef, though.

The Japanese version is so much better than the American one. The American one puts way too much emphasis on the sous chef.

For them to claim that Bobby Flay is an Iron Chef is troublesome to me. I have yet to see Bobby Flay produce a dish that even looked really good, on any one of his 10 current TV shows. His meat is almost always charred, very frequently underdone and sloppily plated. In fact so is Emeril's for that matter. (I know he's not on the show... but he's another one who is addicted to the one monotonous seasoning style that made him rich.) Iron Chefs are about originality, innovation and thinking outside the pocket. Last night I watched the one on Bison, and Flays dishes were hardly “inspiring’ There is such a huge disparity in the originality of the dishes that this current crop makes, that the show simply pales in comparison. I would love to see Jamie Oliver, Sara Moulton, Wolfgang Puck, Chiarello and Bourdain, and if they can get that guy from French Laundry... then we would be talking. They don’t fall into the trap of being defined by a style of food. They just make incredibly great food across the board. It's a disgrace for them to compare this current crop of chefs to Hiroyuki Sakai, Chen Kenichi, and Roskabado Michiba. Those guys could get down with Lungfish, and make you want to eat it! So I pee on this weak diluted American version, and cheer anyone who and everyone who Tivos the original with me when it comes on at 4AM Oh and as for KAGA, has anyone seen him and Michael Jackson in the same room? ALA KWISEEN! (Don't forget to bite the Bell Pepper and then smile like it tastes like poo, and you're embrassed)

Bobby Flay just torches everything, however, he did win in Japan also, didn't he? I think Mario Batali's dishes do look better than the Japanese version of him on the original. I only saw chef Kobe once, since he was less popular but his answer was just to put garlic in everything, he lost pretty bad if I remember correctly. I haven't watched either version in a while.

That they figured Shatner was a suitable replacement for me as host of the American Iron Chef drove me to drink. Even that plank Mark Dacascos was better. At least it gave him something better to do than appearing in that terrible TV series spin-off of The Crow. Why did they have to say he was my nephew? Frankly, I don't see the resemblance.
