Hopsack fabric question

Hey SF,

I recently purchased a hopsack jacket and am pretty annoyed by this "minor" issue.

There are some "loose" threads that I suspect might be the lining/canvassing that keep coming out whenever I brush the jacket with a clothes brush, and when try to pick them out they're pretty long (around 5cm or so).

Is this due to the open weave of the hopsack? If so, how do I brush/maintain my jacket?

Here are some photos

It's a manufacturing defect. Either the lining or something else is "bleeding" through the hopsack.

I had this once on a mohair suit. I brought it back to the clothier, and he sent it back to the factory. The factory fixed the problem.

Bring it back.

Good luck.

it is a loosely woven but also durable, if it sheds badly like that, maybe you need to ask your retailer.

BB 1818 hopsack blazer? I've had non-BB hopsacks have similar issues; I think it's characteristic of the weave. 1818s are often half-canvassed, and the threads appear to be coming from the fused areas of the blazer as well as the canvassed (but I can't really tell from your picture). Also, that's not what canvas would look like if it began coming loose.
