Change in Prices of Clothes - Page 2

As coffeecupman described, this rise in prices is rooted in the fact that the wealthy have become dramatically more wealthy in the last decade, and that the gravy train shows no sign of slowing. Industries focusing on this market see the writing on the wall and are hiking prices and enjoying the windfall.

Nordstrom is not the place you want to look to gauge clothing prices. Check JC Penney, TJ Maxx and more targeted places like Carters or Express. You'll find that prices have increased a little, but more in proportion to the rise in cost of goods.

retail stores are working on much higher margins at first prices.
very few customers expect to pay that full price.
loyality discounts, one day sales, end of the season discounts.
the retailer is still making the traditional margins, aftr all of these deals.
