Good for him, he would fit quite well in Styleforum.

I did not know Ferragamo made suits, I thought they only made shoes and belts. Just goes to show how much I know.

+1

"I've also got a lot of suits made by this Italian guy from Napoli called Isaia. Not many people know the brand, but I know that George Clooney and Brad Pitt do. It's almost like I'm not meant to tell anyone." laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

The way he said "This morning I had John Lobb come over" struck me as strange, though. Given that JL was founded 150+ years ago, it's not as if "John (himself)" is around to make house calls.

"[...] it's a short, sharp shock [...]" - is that a subtle Pink Floyd reference? "Us and Them" off Dark Side of the Moon features a sample of someone saying "I mean, they're not gonna kill ya, so if you give 'em a quick short, sharp, shock, they won't do it again. Dig it? I mean he get off lightly, 'cause I would've given him a thrashing - I only hit him once! It was only a difference of opinion, but really...I mean good manners don't cost nothing do they, eh?"

They are a run-of-the-mill luxury brand, which means -- in this day and age -- they have their fingers in just about every pie.

I really like a jacket they're making this season: Salvatore Ferragamo Wool/Cashmere Car Coat - it's a plain coat and the only indication of who made it is the fact that the front clasps (which are a neat little detail inspired by women's handbag closures, I surmise) are the shape of the signature stirrup or whatever it's called. It's also available in shearling for an extra few thousand bucks....

The movie looks like it sucks but I'm a huge fan of Jackman!! I don't normally see or hear his name when people refer to stylish stars but every pic or television interview that I've seen he looks the part of a leading man. Most stars these days tend to be more trendy than stylish but that's more of a sign of the time and age...I think.

From all accounts (ages 10-63), the movie is pretty darned good.

My favorite suits that Jackman has worn were from Leonard Logsdail.

The bespoke representative for John Lobb [Paris] does make house calls for truly big timers.

Damn, that coat is sweet. I cant see that hanging around long, but knowing myself I will bookmark it and periodically check. By the time I make my mind up, it will be ...................... gone!

All from "Top Critics" on RottenTomatoes (i.e., the ones with brains):

- Atom is complimented by a ringside announcer for displaying a fighting style that's "almost human." This is about the highest praise the mechanistic, spare-parts melodrama of Real Steel deserves.
- It's hard to buy into the notion that fans could ever be as rabid to watch a couple of machines tear each other apart as they are to see two men sweating and straining and bleeding on the canvas. Without human consequence, where's the drama?
- This punishingly predictable tale will test whether sci-fi action fanboys can stomach having their cherished genre infiltrated by sentimental hokum about a down-on-his-luck dad and his spunky long-lost son.
- A toy tie-in, an overlong movie that takes on some of the grimy veneer and colorful characters of a "boxing picture," sanitizing it for children.
- I suspect a lot of what I found synthetic and sort of galling in "Real Steel" will work just fine with the target audience.
- The tear-jerking in Real Steel is as shameless as its product placement. We're being hustled.
- It's so virtual, so distant from the thrill, that you wonder what the point is. Do you really want to pay to watch an actor playing a kid who in turn plays what amounts to a video game?
- They should call this overloud, underwhelming movie Real Steal.
- Surely a story as elementary and essentially derivative as this one could be told in less than 127 minutes.
