I'm turning 35 in December and have been thinking about getting myself a watch. Been also thinking about getting a suit and/or nice overcoat instead, but don't really need one until next year at the earliest. I was thinking of investing in a watch that I can wear casually, and to work, as well as have an heirloom to pass down to one of my 2 sons. A bit of background:
1. Work in Research/Consulting and occasionally meet with executive clients in person. I do meet with technology executives often. Based on my research, I'm starting to build a bit of a brand for myself and can foresee going out and having my own services company in 3-5 years.
2. Because I was thinking of this Breitling SuperOcean with both the rubber and steel bracelet. Rubber for casual days, steel for more upscale dress.
3. Budget: Ideally no more than $3kUSD, but can go as high as $5kUSD
4. I've just started building the wardrobe and typically wear Thomas Pink shirt and tie with slacks. I'll throw on some jeans with the Pink too.
Any suggestions on a watch or birthday gift alternative?
