Odd Waistcoat for Navy Suit

Hey all - been recently considering getting an odd vest for the following navy blue suit: http://www.jny.com/Navy-Single-Pleat-Wool-Suit%2C-Ships-10/20/25686514,default,pd.html

 

I like this vest, but I find none of the colors compatible:

I assume that a lighter grey would be more appropriate with a dark navy suit.

I'm very thin, and I think I'd like something with a lapel. I also don't want to spend a ton of money.

 

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

 

Also - ideas on braces / shirt color / tie / shoes coordination? I typically wear a pair of oxblood shoes with the suit, but I think with a grey vest that a black pair might be more appropriate.

Navy suits are better to be leaved alone! Btw, the waistcoats you selected have a different weight and texture of cloth, so it will look quite odd in reality.
Frankly, IMHO odd vests are better with sporty suits (Glen plaid, houndstooth, etc) rather than business suits, or with sport jackets and slacks. But, if you want you are free to try smile.gif.

In this instance I would avoid it entirely. 99/100 this looks terrible, and as someone who needs to ask advice on a forum, do you consider yourself to be top 1% of the most stylish people out there?

A sweater vest might be okay. But I'm not sure that anything will look good with that suit.

It's really not a suit that looks good with an odd vest.

Regret that we can not give you the approval you wanted.

Best to fold your vest budget into getting a better-quality suit.
