Incredible Stuff From Japan - Fashion Boots And More

There are all kinds of cool boots that seem to find a market in Japan. Too popular - us ganjins find our usual sizes sold out quickly.

For instance, the Bikenstock Japan only Midland boot:

Ok... why does the coolest footwear seem to be bound for the Japan market and not here? There are countless brands. Danner comes to mind in what it showcases in Japan and not here.

Do we Americans still make fashion in men's footwear or do we follow it?

those are fucking ugly. that's the coolest pair of japanese shoes you could find?

^haha, tell it like it is

I don't think those are the "cool and popular" shoes in Japan..

I think you are asking why the "workwear-ish boots" like Red Wing and Danner are popular and have exclusive models in Japan.

 Its a good question.

If they're not "cool and popular", why do various manufacturers like the ones you mention turn out products just for the Japan market?

F*ckin ugly is a question of taste. But there must be no accounting for taste if they're sold out in all sizes on Rakuten Ichiba.

This is Danner Lights for the Japan market:

Everyone seems interested in fashion hiking boots made popular by them, Diemme, Fracap and others.

The Oakland by Birkenstock Japan, is what I'd like although I don't think the store I e-mailed can substitute it for the Midland in my size:

Let's be clear: fashion hiking boots are really chukka boots that are styled to look like vintage hiking boots but are not meant for serious outdoor jaunts. Its form over function and they look good with jeans or whatever. Just dressy boots for casual and urban every day wear.

You seem to have a knack for finding the most disgustingly hideously designed footwear, truly a gift

Danner japan exclusives do look nice compared to the stuff they come out for other places.

The stuffs in this thread are terrible. Thread title is a cruel joke.

We should have a thread devoted to *** INCREDIBLE STUFF FROM JAPAN *** Why we not have already?

People who want them ask how they can get them. One used to have to buy them proxy from Japan but now Danner Lights are available from Woodlandshop.com.

I would be willing to change the title thread to reflect your suggestion so interested forum members can discuss more than just footwear. I think that is an excellent idea and would enlarge the scope of the discussion on here!

If you mean Birkenstock, I understand not many like it on SF. To each his own then.

I have a Japanese friend who just ordered a pair of Red Wing boots from Minnesota. Apparently they're not getting *all* the coolest stuff there.

Good point. The RW he ordered probably wasn't available on the local market there. American-made stuff is definitely cool. As far my tastes goes, I stay away from Chinese made footwear. Too generic and the quality is variable.
