Best shopping city in the world - Page 2

My vote goes to London. Only London has the complete package of every notable franchised designer, a strong local bespoke tradition, vintage shops, and a vibrant counterculture. New York strikes me as little better than Dubai, a city where everything can be bought, but from which nothing comes. The only American men's clothing praised the world over are Alden shoes and Oxxford tailored clothes; neither of them come from New York. My biases against Italy (mostly caused by transportation strikes) preclude me from picking any of that nation's cites; whenever I cross the Italo-Austrian border going north, I always feel relief that I'm once again entering civilisation. To LA I've never been, nor do I ever plan to visit. And Toyko feels even more packed to me than Karachi, so I find it hard to enjoy shopping (or anything else) there. Peace, JG

I know the thread is somewhat dead...but I didn't see Barcelona on there. I spent a good amount of time this summer in Europe and found the shopping to be quite exquisite there. You can find almost anything you can find anywhere else, with the addition of some of the 'local' names like Caramello and Zara to name a few. Anyone else agree?
