Fraternity Event

Good Morning Gentlemen.

I need some advice from you all. My fraternity (ZBT) is going to be hosting an event on being a gentleman, i will be giving a lecture on how to properly wear a suit and would like your input on what topics should be covered. I was thinking on giving the basics such as canvassed/ half canvassed/ fused, collar rolls, trouser break, where a vest should end, suspenders/belts and the difference between dress codes such as black tie vs business attire. My question to you all is should i be going into the history of menswear such as beau brummel, and savile row as well as different house styles such as huntsman vs andersons/ neopolitan vs roman? i chose those because majority of the suits these people will be buying are descended in one way or another from one of those I.E designer suits being offspring's of the continental style. Also what about shoes? im thinking of just going into goodyear welted vs non goodyear welted, im thinking that if i get into different styles such as cleverly's square toe it will just get a bit complicated. And lastly i have bespoke suits from Steed and NSM which i would like to bring to the event however im thinking it would be redundant because they are bespoke so not applicable to people who are most likely only wearing a suit for interviews/work meaning they would most likely be buying RTW. Any advice would be appreciated and if you feel that i should be adding anything in just let me know!

P.S: We will also be holding a lottery for a 350 dollar gift card towards the winner's new suit. Any recommendation on a place? right now we are thinking Bloomingdale's. We are located in NYC btw.

Is this for existing members or kids you're rushing or what? Also I must say this is slightly different from the fraternity "events" I was a part of in my time...

Its for neither, its for the school in general, each semester we are given a budget and so this semester we decided to hold an event like this to promote proper dress. We are a social fraternity so we do not require business wear expect for our national pin days but since our current roster contains people that love this kind of stuff we thought it would be a good idea to hold an event like this. Like i said its really going to be for the people looking for advice on what to wear for interviews, finance/criminal justice society etc which is what im expecting our main audience to be.

I wouldn't go into huge detail about things like savile row. It might be a good thing to touch on, but you should stick to what your audience needs to hear. Unless you guys have a trust fund, most of the guys aren't going to be going to get bespoke suits starting out. You might want to do a short section on the major mistakes that guys make buying their first suits. I made the mistake of buying my first two suits before finding SF and had to learn my lesson the hard way.
