I am replacing my old tuxedo with something that fits and looks like it was made for the 21 century. Three weeks ago I was fitted for a Zegna ""Mainline" Black Tuxedo. The Zegna is a Fit Mila model [dual vents, peak lapel, one button] with a 15mil15 fabric. The total cost of this tuxedo is $3500
Over this weekend I went into my local high-end clothing consignment store and found a BWT single button dual vent peak lapel Tom Ford, retail $5000 asking price $2000. The TF has everything and fits 90% like the Zegna, except for the shoulders [the Ford seems to be 1-1.25 inches wider] and the total length falls into the same issue as the shoulders.
Before I ask the question tha everyone will/wants to answer, please realize that the Zegna Tuxedo fits me like a glove and has everything I want and look for in a Tuxedo. The Tom Ford is beauitful, stylish and sexy...but it will need a little work on the sides, arms, pants and shaping if I want the TF to appear fitted.
