I watch at work...I watch at home. This show is too awesome.

I don't know how people were able to watch it in real time....ONLY 1 HOUR OF AWESOMENESS PER WEEK!?!?

Just finished Season 2. Don't ruin it for me plz. :D

I actually spent a whole vacation watching random The Wire Clips on youtube.

The clips are awesome, but its the comments section that really helps out. Its basically cliffnotes for the wire. Or a study group with people who are smarter than you - where you get super in depth explanations and insight.

The most disorienting clip ever for me?

Just watch the pound for pound most bad assed character in The Wire being "real":

Damn...I just assumed Omar would always be the P4P best character. Can't believe someone else comes along to take that crown.

I assumed that as well, but I remember doing the random youtube clip search of Chris and found that he's actually stand up loyal elite soldier, has a sense of morality (killing michael's pedobear father), and even a straight laced family man (that's something I totally forgot but he's got a real family wife and kids where's he's totally normal good provider Dad/Husband - thanks random The Wire youtube clips). He's like a more moral black stone cold killer don draper).

Is there anyway of getting HBO GO without having cable? Are they planning to have it as a Netflix / Hulu type of deal anytime soon?

Not that I know of...you need to login using your cable provider account.

My parents have HBO and do not use the HBO GO feature, so I'm using theirs. I'm sure you have a close buddy/relative who hasn't even heard of this...ask them to hook you up with their info.

You need to watch actual episodes, not random clips. Chris is a rat bastard. He has no sense of morality, if he did, he wouldn't be in that line of work. Remember how he tortured and killed Butchie, a blind man? Or the attack on that family, where a boy of about five years old ran away for his life? Had they found the boy, Chris would have killed him. Then there's the fact Chris trains young boys like Michael to become killers.

^^^^^dude really? you are missing the entire point of the show if you actually feel that way.

also the OP is asking for no spoilers so lets keep it that way for him.

sure I watched all the whole series run twice already. Thats why doing the random youtube clip research is so rewarding because of the insight of the youtube commenters that analyze those key situations so thoroughly. it really deepens the understanding after watching the whole series run.

it was all for orders and keeping Marlo's name clear though Chris did those sadistic things.... he was still being a good solider. In the arc of the story Mike's being taken in and trained properly is not unlike Christopher Moltisanti being guided by Toni Soprano. There were only so many ways Mike could provide a stable home for his little brother and addict mother - sadly being a highly trained elite soldier for Marlo is a great job in that situation - its not unlike joining the military (there's inherent risks involved but its a stable paycheck that can be viewed as both honorable and deplorable).

Chris had a good eye for talent and groomed Michael accordingly. He actually taught him the proper mentality too - basically he as a mentor/big brother to mike (as well as snoop being a big sister). Chris did smash Mikes **** dad's face in violently, but he did it for a reason, not just randomly.

haha the statue of spoiler-limitations has passed on The Wire. Making this thread was a bad move...

seriously though when people make these threads I always assume that its because they already are on a repeat (2x-3x) viewing of the series and wanted to extoll its entertainment virtues.

as for the youtube clip research its best done if you've already watched the whole series... there's tons-o-spoilers in the comment threads. but if you've watched the series then its a goldmine for really connecting the dots (there's random characters that are in the 2nd season who actually pop up again in the last season).
