I think you would like the Merona socks from Target. There's a thread about them here.

I wouldn't get more than a few pairs. Lots of guys like these, go too far and then one day they realize they have gone too far..... They are fun but do you really want to be known as the guy with the loud socks?

(I have several pairs of colorful striped socks)

As oppose to being known as that guy who wears loud pocket squares?

Ha! You don't want to be that guy either :)

I have a similar philosophy about them as well. When guys first get into them they often want wild, "fun" ones. Go ahead and get a few but well dressed guys wear fairly classic colors and patterns most of the time to look their best.

I quite like them but, IMHO, the main colours should blend well with other stuff you're wearing and not jar too much. And they should be done in the context of an otherwise pretty conservative get up.

They often don't get a lot of love on here but then there's an SF obsession with soporific accessories (pocket hankies excepted for some reason). I could understand it if was an obsession with quiet dressing but that doesn't seem the case: it's often in the context of work outfits featuring tan shoes and 'jesus wept'-plaid jackets. If I was wearing those, i'd probably tone down the socks and ties too but it seems a little wanky to criticise one, modest expression of flamboyance whilst prancing around in epilepsy-inducing jacket and radioactive pocket square.

Well....you have to start somewhere:)

One of the problems here on SF is that many guys post "Looks cool man" or similar comments in a supportive tone, when in fact it really doesn't look that good, it is only being ostentatious. There is a huge difference. Encouraging guys to be flamboyant isn't the same as encouraging them to look their best.

Of course there is the context of where you wear them. When I see a lot of posts of wild socks taken at work, often at their desks, I wonder if their clients and co-workers can take them seriously. If you want to wear them to the grocery store or a party fine..have fun.
