Suede vest and tweed jacket?

Considering ordering a MTO suede vest that would go with tweed jackets (instead e.g. of a wool sweater vest). What do people think of the pairing? I recently saw a picture on RL with the vest worn over the jacket and kind of liked it.

The traditional odd waistcoat (vest) to be worn with a tweed jacket is doeskin (which is actually a kind of wool fabric, not suede), and always under the jacket. The man in the picture doesn't seem to be too happy with the stylist who dressed him that way, considering the death-glare.
