In any decent shop selling shoes in which you intend to buy those shoes.

If all you intend is to have your feet measured for free or for very little given it is a service not normally porvided then buy on line, I leave that to your conscience.

Any shoe shop will just use a Brannock device to measure the length and width of your feet. There is nowhere that will have any idea how particular lasts will fit without you actually trying them on. If you want to know how the C&J 348 last fits (for example) you'll have to go to somewhere that sells C&J and try them on. Or just find out your size/width then order online and cross your fingers; most places have a returns policy if they don't fit.

Yes, of course, every company uses their own lasts. The length/width of the foot a particular size is supposed to fit are standardised, but there is no way for them to take into account all the possible shapes of foot, and lasts can vary wildly in shape while still fitting the same size of foot.

The one good thing about the way feet are assessed in a really good athletic store is that they should also assess your gait - i.e. how you walk and run - using a treadmill. This can be useful if you are the kind of person who has a gait that is in any way abnormal or experiences any pain in RTW shoes, because you might benefit from special innersoles or inserts. It is very important to get gait assessed while walking too, because it is very different for the two activities and of course we aren't generally going to be running in our dress shoes...
