I call these "architect glasses". You know 'em when you see 'em.

Thank you, but perhaps thats not quite the effect I had in mind.

I seriously doubt I could even pull a sweater I wore in college over my left nut these days. I was SSSSSKKKKKKKKIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYY

One of my great regrets at going to school in the era I did. Hoodies have replaced sweaters. I would have loved to have an old school heavy wool college sweater, but alas, they're no longer available, at least where I went (a school that has a hockey team superior to Cornell's, I might add)

either suit sans tie or SC with tie and some 'local' flair (flannel, tweed, bowtie, etc)

Wear a suit and tie. Trust me on this.

Greensboro has quite a few examples of the Brutalist style, including a couple well known ones by one of the more prominent architects of the period (out city hall and country courthouse). I know all about Architorture.

Seriously, the stuff looks Orwellian. The city hall is actually quite neat on the inside, however. The Courthouse? It has a few nice spots and angles, but it's mostly just ugly.

This in a place where we have the old courthouse in a neo-classical style, and a federal courthouse that's an awesome art deco building.

Except for the makeup, of course.

Thank you all for your input!

As a follow up: Suit and tie were indeed perfectly appropriate, as expected. Although I'd say the predominate combo among my peers was suit without tie, followed by sport jacket with or without tie. Lots of Italian shoes including the ubiquitous loafers of all configurations.

This was a momentous sartorial occasion though. One of my collegues has gone all 'IGent' during the past couple of years since I've seen him. He was wearing a completely natural shoulder suit in bright blue, white square with hand stiched contrast edging, white shirt with a pretty high collar band, trousers were slim, no cuff, but no break either. He was wearing light tan socks that I at first mistook for no socks, and woven leather loafers. It all seemed a bit summery for this time of year but I'm guessing it's his favorite new look so he was bustin' it out one more time. Now this guy lives in Dallas, of all places, I imagine he must really stand out there.

BTW - not any tweed - even on the faculty.

No English teachers in the mix, then? satisfied.gif And on that note, "predominate" is a verb -- "predominant" is the adjective you were looking for.
