Want to wear a bib tux shirt without wing collar (straight collar) with a black neck tie instead of bow tie.

Any thoughts?

You can use a classic turn down collar instead of a Wing collar if you prefer, but you MUST wear a bow tie. You are not Brad Pitt, or Gorgio Armani, you don't get to fuck with those rules.

I guess I could get away with a neck tie without a bib shirt on tux(?).

No, a normal neck-tie should never be worn with black tie (a tuxedo). EVER. A bow-tie is the only acceptable neckwear. The type of shirt makes no difference to this fact.

+1. I've tried to explain why in this post. And it ain't about dress codes.
