What is shirt collar interlining made out of?

Snakes..............sun dried and beaten until they are paper thin.

Seriously though - sorry to disappoint you but the technical term is actually 'Interlining'. It's usually of a polyester base. It's a little bit like super thin fiberglass insulation in that it's a random 'matrix' of fibers which are fused together to form a 'fabric'.

Presuming you are talking about most RTW shirts.

I guess shirt manufacturers can except this when they say 100% cotton.
