The Legacy Machine 1 watch from MB&F

MB&F, an independent watchmaker known for its extreme designs, just unveiled the Legacy Machine 1, a steampunk-ish timepiece. Unlike its previous "Horological Machines", the LM1 has a conventional round case and puts a lot of emphasis on traditional movement design and finishing. The retail is about USD90,000.

More photos can be seen on my blog.

I think I read an piece about them in Forbes life. It was on small watch manufacturers. I don't like their stuff at all, but i guess they aren't going for the mainstream.

I wouldn't ever wear them (not that I could afford it....), but I do love what they are doing. All those new watch companies that pretend they have history are pathetic, these guys actually bring something new. The HM4 looks kind of weird on a wrist, but the thing itself is a beautiful piece of art.

The large visible escapement is definitely very cool looking. I haven't seen the watch IRL, but the finishing as per the pictures looks pretty damn good.

My shaky amateur video shows the exposed balance and domed crystal quite well.
