Thorogood. Poorman's Red Wing. Those are really nice! More info on the boots please.
Thorogood Moc Toe, those are the 8 inch. I have the 6" ones and I love them. haven't tested them in winter yet though, this will be the first year. I sno-sealed them so they should be dry and warm when worn with Wigwam socks. They were $120 shipped and are made in the USA.Those are really nice! More info on the boots please.
How well do mountaineering boots like diemme work in the winter?
Ah thanks, upon looking more into diemmes, they look good but yeah they aren't good with ice or snow. I might end up going with a pair of viberg hikers, since they have a much better sole. They are good three season boots. I think boots with a warm lining and grippier rubber outsoles like the Meindl Gastein or Bestard Summit BG3 (new wet surface outsole) would work better in the winter. You don't want to slide like a duck on ice.
If you want to use the Diemme, get some Stabilicers. They will give you a good traction on ice where the rubber isn't up to the task.
I hope this helps.

Would this actually work? I'm just looking for something decent looking that will give me some traction during the winter. The city I'll be living in does a piss poor job of clearing ice.
