Are Ralph Lauren and EG parting ways ?

The RL flagship is London is full of made in Italy RLPL shoes (of undetermined origin- to me at least) and not that many EGs.

When I raised the issue with someone associated with EG they sounded somewhat uncomfortable with the topic.

Does anyone have any info on whether there is something going on?

They probably sounded uncomfortable because they had no idea what you were talking about. smile.gif

that is a possibility

but one thing is for sure Made in England RLPLs are thin on the ground in London. Everything is made in italy now

I'm betting this. But I also noticed that most of the RLPL shoes at the one here in Dallas were Italian.

Who cares if you are in London anyway?

Just head over to EG and have a field day.

Or does the "Ralph Lauren Purple Label" make you feel like you got more street cred?

haha, when i was in a RL store recently looking at shoes there was a pair that looked very G&G like, especially in the sole. i asked the guy there about it. he clearly had no clue what the hell i was talking about. his eyes seemed to glaze over.

also btw, i saw for the first time in my BB catalogue they had a pair of EGs in there. have they always sold EGs or is this a new thing?

I thought RLPL dropped EG a couple years ago? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it had something to do with logistics.

I would not be overly surprised if RLPL were dropping EG. I doubt that they make too much of a profit off of them, and I think the average RLPL customer is more wowed by the Made in Italy tag than the Made in England. Lord knows the G&G for RLPL did not work out well, judging by the truckloads of Narvell's that were dumped in B&S.

And RLPL picked EG back up after this post?

Some RLPL are made by G&G, most easily recognized by the fiddle waist. The last type and number for G&G are often written on the tongue.
