Thanks for the kind words.

However, now you have me stressing that I'm not going to find anything that fits my freakish body. I've been searching a lot online and everything I see has an 8'' drop max!

Any suggestions for what brands might work best?

Do department stores ever let you mix and match jackets with pants besides with specially designated singles. I don't like the Brooks Brothers Essentials line...

You just need a tailor. They can downsize the pants and take in the waist.

10'' is a lot to take in...

Well......actually if you find an 8" drop suit that would put the waist at 32" which should be alterable to 30". As I mentioned above.

Go to Nordstrom Rack on State or Chicago. They have ton of quality suits for $700-$800. Then take it to a tailor. I would not use their tailor.

Size 40, 8" drop, get a tailor to lop 2" off suit sides, and you should be within range.

If I were you, save money and time and go for Versace Collection or your old friend Hugo Boss. They are not the best quality suits but they are cut with the slimmer man in mind.

They would tide you over the next year or two, wear em and when you update, keep as beaters or donate to thrift store. That will buy you plenty of time to investigate higher end RTW ranges or preferably, for a guy with your frame, MTM / Bespoke options.

You are in a hurry to build a wardrobe that will tide you over for the time being, not in a hurry to build a world class wardrobe that will last for the forseeable future.
