Are my suit Jacket and suit vest way too long?

My tailor made me a three-piece Prince of Wales suit but something seemed to be off with it. I have tried it with and without the vest and it still feels a little bit long. What are your opinions, guys?

The vest may be a bit longer than necessary, though not excessively so. It must cover the top of your trousers so no shirt shows beneath it, it could probably be shortened a little bit and still do that.

The coat does not look too long at all, though there are a few other things wrong with it; the pulling at the button, the sleeve pitch etc.

Also, you should not wear a belt at the same time as a vest.

i agree with sanguis

Also, the sleeve of the jacket might be just a tad too short which gives it the illusion that the jacket is too long. The jacket might be a .5 in too long and .5 in too short on the sleeve.

Thanks for the advice guys. By .5 you mean inches or cms?  What's wrong with the pulling at the buttom?

Vest is way too long. Jacket balance is off, your chest is too big, pulling the whole jacket front up, resulting in closed quarters.

Jacket is not too long at all; instead the sleeves are a touch too short.

Jacket button stance could be lower as well; vest is not showing with jacket buttoned. But this can't be fixed until your next order.

i meant .5 inch but i took another look and maybe even less than that. In some pictures the sleeve of the shirt looks longer than the jacket sleeve which gives the look that the jacket sleeve is short. Maybe its just your posture when taking the pictures but its not too noticeable.

Ok, so tomorrow I'll go to my tailor and ask for the vest to be shortened and the sleeves to be extended.

Is there something that can be done with the button stance or with the pulling of the jacket?

To be honest I would ask for it to be re-made. There are a lot of issues going on there. Sorry :(

You would probably be better recruiting a new tailor if the man allowed you to leave his work room with such shoddy garments. Were they in fact yours?

The waistcoat is not ridiculously wrong but still too long: The coat is just a mess. Whilst the length is only just too short it simply does not fit you and does nothing in the slightest to flatter you. To judge by the position of the left back pocket (which appears to lack a button) in relation to the waist band, I suspect that the back pockets are also set too low.

Take them back , get your money back and go somewhere else.

And I think most of them are caused by the awkward stance he's posing with. It looks like OP is trying to stand straighter than he normally does. A good tailor will make the suit for how you normally stand, not for some ideal pose. Putting the arms wide like that is probably screwing a thing or two up too.

Set too low perhaps, but the button on the pocket is a detailing option, and the presence or lack thereof indicates absolutely nothing.

The vest looks quite long unbuttoned. But when it´s buttoned, though still looking a bit long, it doesn´t look that bad.

its like 2" short in the sleeves.

I am sad to say that this is probably solid advice.

Oh man, this is a tailor made suit? Way too many things wrong with the jacket. I wouldn't pay the tailor for that. And I wouldn't trust him in "remaking it," because if he was okay with you leaving with a suit looking that, he not only can't be trusted, but he's not a good suit maker at all.

did your tailor make this himself? or did he order it from a made to measure shop?
if it was an m2m, then send it back and get a refund.

by the way this should be submitted to the tailors thread.
