I am about an 8.25D on the brannock and went with an 8.5D. They are super comfy and light but as you noticed have a little bit of room by the heels. I do get a slight amount of heel slip but nothing crazy. I would say go TTS on them if you are considering. I have a pair of loafers from GH Bass that are made by Rancourt in 8D and they were too tight so I decided to size up on this pair.

Looking good!  I've been wearing my natty/caramel pair more than the brown.  I love the lightweight feel of both.  Definitely some very comfy loafers.

Totally, I am blown away by the lightness and comfort. As many have mentioned before though, the Rancourt leather soles are pretty terrible and are wearing down quick compared to AE or ALden leather soles.

Thanks Miike!

Yeah I don't know why their soles are such poor relative quality.  I suppose it contributes somewhat to the lightweight nature of the loafers.

Update: Sorry, but they are now gone. I got a pair and 10 minutes later the last pair must have sold because it changed to out of stock.

Will you let us know how these are? Quality, finishing, last, etc... It's interesting that Florsheim is selling shells again. (Say that three times fast!) Or maybe they stopped again if this is a close-out. butbut.gif

I understand that Nettleton -- another great US shoemaker that went downhill -- is also making Horween shell cordovan shoes again.

Will do. I am hoping they do not follow up with an email saying it was actually out of stock. I have been watching their site for a year and this is the first and only time they had shoes listed. The fact they were clearance makes me feel they found a few pairs they have not previously sold and were just getting rid of them as opposed to starting shell again.

I have a pair of these (in 'Black Cherry') I picked up at BCF. I believe they are either seconds or returns because the is a circle mark on the soles.

Anyway been meaning to put these on B&S or the bay but haven't gotten around to it. I think they're 10.5D, but I have to double check when I get home.

They're made in China or India, aren't they? So odd to still have US production (minimal) but do Horween cordovan offshore.

I did a little research after reading your post the other evening. It looks like Florsheim started offering shell in several different colors in 2014. I guess their return to the market (and to compete against Alden and AE?) didn't go very well.

Yeah, I can totally see that result. Those who are inclined to purchase shell by temperament and finances will steer away from Florsheim and towards Alden, Vass, C&J, AE, etc. Those customers who seek out Florsheim for their wide array of lower end shoes would likely draw the line at about $250, which is where their Royal Imperial line is right now. I do not see many of those customers saying "Say, can you show me something more than double in cost? I was hoping to pay $600."

They had some great colors, but made in India sort of ruined it at that price point. If they'd done sub-$500 it would've been another matter.

I do believe Namor had some of the 1st release Florsheims from India and they looked pretty wicked.

Yes, except they turned out not to be shell cordovan, just heavily painted leather.
