Hello gentlemen, taking into consideration my proportions i've finally decided to go bespoke and decided to get what i wanted for a pretty long time but wasn't able to find,a DB navy blazer.Full canvass, brass buttons, side vents,3x3(2x2 working buttons),flap pockets and of course peak lapels. My inspiration was mostly from this photo
263
I want to get these buttons, what would you say?also what's the button size for DB blazer?
Is there something i should consider when getting DB blazer?and what's the best width for lapels?
I'm going for fitting next Saturday, will keep you guys posted.

edit:buttons on mine are going to be a little bit lower than the ones in photo,a little bit lower than nipples, and the 2x2 buttons are going to be like 2" lower than on photos

The top buttons remind me of the nipples on the Batman Forever costumes.

I would suggest finding something more classic, this will look hideous in 18 months time which does not justify the investment in decent bespoke, assuming that a fitting within a week for bespoke means what it says. Are you already known to the tailor?

DB is a classic. It just depends whether you can pull it off or not.

Could you please elaborate a little bit?what do you mean by saying "more classic"?and what does a fitting within a week say?
Actually no,you can say its my first bespoke,i once ordered a waistcoat from another tailor that i didn't like, but i've seen works of this tailor and heard a lot about him and he seems to understand what he is doing,at least he impressed me far more than all other tailors i've seen.

I recall that Brooks Brothers carried a DBBB with all the details you mention. It might be worth a look to see if they still do before going bespoke.

I just picked up a Brioni blazer that is identical.

I'm a HUGE fan of this style!

Use it in good health!

Great choice

Yeah i saw that one, pretty good blazer but that's still not 100% what i want, plus i can't try it on,and can't order it because i don't have a BB shop in my country, and if i can get on with a few details i'd change i certainly can't buy it without at least seeing it in person.

That DB suit looks great and the buttons are what initially draws you to the picture. I think bespoke tailors can replicate any style if you show them a picture of it. With my suit I just showed them a photo and they new instantly how to recreate it.

So...i went to fitting yesterday,3 days later than he said(his fault).Everything was good but, when i tried on the cloth i saw writing on the edges polyester 54,lycra 2.I've asked him what's that and that i wanted 100% wool and have chosen one of the best and most expensive fabrics he offered and he started trying to convince me that it's ok and after he wasn't able to make it he even asked if my suit was 100% wool i said no it has 8% silk in it to which he said something which will sound in translation like "yeah, that's why it's so messed up"(he meant wrinkled).I said that i'd have been ok if the polyester was 10% god if it even was 20 because he has already cut the cloth but that's more than actual wool in it,i told him that i won't make decision now and i have to think and will call him to which he was very upset but i don't give a damn.what should i do now SF?

That sounds horrible OP, not a pleasant situation.

To sum up:
He gave you the wrong cloth, tried to convince you it was still OK and then insulted you when you wouldn't accept?

Sounds like pretty poor personal service to me (to put it mildly).

Do you have a long history with this tailor?
Have you paid anything yet?

If the answer is No to both those question I suggest telling him that you will not be returning.
It could also be appropriate to warn the forum of the tailor's name so other users do not end up in similar circumstances.

Best of luck.

Really sounds like you don't want to work with him.

54% polyester is totally unacceptable, especially if you specifically asked for 100% wool. Personally I would not bother going back to this tailor, even if you can get him to recut in a decent fabric it does not sound like the sort of relationship that will produce a satisfactory result.

I didn't specifically say 100% i said that i'd like a wool fabric to which he responded like i insulted him "i never work with artificial fabrics" and i said ok that's good because other tailors tried to convince me to get polyester, and he agreed.i think it was enough for him to understand that i want wool, and the fact that he said that the one i've chosen is from the best fabrics made me think that it's 100% wool, because you know, they don't use polyester, especially 54 percent for best fabrics.I can get him to use other fabric but i just don't think that the results of our work will be good after all this.May be it's my fault too because i didn't mention strict numbers but i thought that i implied it and it was clear, may be that's because i am inexperienced but i think it's clear that if i wanted a lot of handwork, full canvass and best quality i want a good fabric too.too bad it looks like i'll have to stick with rtw again.
