Ahh spring time.
Marlows go on sale and a flurry of the same damn question about sizing that gets asked every six months.
Up next will be questions whether the black ones are calf or shell.

I don't think there is a definitive answer or "rule of thumb"

Some go with their Barrie last size last -- others go TTS.

Since the 325 last is narrower/sleeker than the barrie, persons with wider feet may opt to go TTS to compensate.

This is basically what I do

FWIW, my Marlows fit true to size.

IE., I had to size up from my Alden Barrie size and they still seem a bit narrower.

Do the Marlows fit TTS then? It seems like the Barrie last is skewing things. My TTS is typically a 9D (Brannock, most AE, and other dress shoes). I went half size down for the Marlows and they are almost perfect.

They seem to for me. I measure 8.5D on the Brannock and the Marlows in that size seem to fit perfect.

The Alden's are too big for me and the Marlows fit perfect. I actually need an 8D in the Aldens.

I'm guessing that you've switched to wearing dress socks now ... in your videos, I did note that you would wear casual socks with dress shoes.

The socks can make a big difference, yeah.

I still wear casual socks with my boots. I'm selling some of my 8.5D Aldens and switching to 8D with dress socks now.

Bucksfan, awesome shine! How did you do it?

Thanks! I use the "mac" method only. And, on these C&J shells, there's LOTS of polish, so it will take a while. Damp rag, lots of brushing.

Same here, only in size 12D. I will say that the Marlow wingtip is slightly large (I estimate .25 larger than a shoe on an Allen Edmonds last or Alden's Aberdeen). However, it is fairly narrow. My feet are on the line between 12D and 12E on the brannock, and there's no way a 11.5 Marlow would fit me.

Does anyone have any pics of really old Marlows / Darltons? I'm interested in seeing how they age in terms of color.
L to R: 2 year old brown shell AE Strands, new Marlow wingtip, 1.5 year old Marlow PTB, 5 year old Darlton tassel loafers, no flash. Same as above, with flash Outdoor shots of the 5-year old brown shell tassels.
Thanks, that's really cool to see those shoes all side by side.

TRYING TO CONVINCE MYSELF THAT I DON'T NEED THE FOLLOWING:

Marlow wingtip if I have the lindrick boot
Marlow tassel if I have the alden tassel.

so far i've been successful, but I can't say I won't cave.

I have the Lindrick, and I just ordered the Marlow Wingtip.

Besides aren't there times when you would rather wear a shoe vs. a boot?

Of course you need them.

After all they're on sale aren't they?:D
