Captoe boot from BB in Burgundy shell. No Reno or polish helped. The brushing was not excessive.

I returned them for full refund - no harm, no foul. If a guy is in the shoe game long enough, it is almost inevitable that QC issues will arise at some point, regardless of maker. Humans are just that - humans. Recently purchased a pair of EGs - the veins in the skin back by the heel (on both shoes!!) were totally unacceptable for a shoe at that price point. They were returned without incident. No big deal ....

OP's post is not clear on whether he is just getting the factory polish off and getting down to the bare shell or if the actual finish is flaking off.  If the former, keep brushing.  If the latter, I had the same thing happen and adding Renovateur or Saphir cordovan cream took care of it.

I am just getting through the factory polish. No flaking.

NAMOR -- Did you do anything to the Giannis in terms of the edging?  Something about those your pic with the RRL chinos makes it look like they have an antique-like contrast.  Looks great.

no sir. they came like that. The edge trim did look lighter than my other RL models and I think its more pronounced in the sun

Sorry if this question has been asked more than once I did a quick search and have yet to find an answer. I bought my first pair of Marlow's last week off ebay and they were listed as a US 12 and the listing specifically stated that they were made/sized for the US market. From what Ive read about the sizing of the Marlows most agree that they run a half size large. That being said I wear a US 12 -13 depending on if I want room for insoles. I knew at first glance after opening the box that these were going to be tough to fill even with my biggest insoles. So i tossed on a thick pair of my cashmere socks and some of my thicker insoles and as i predicted they were still too large and a bit wide. Does anyone by chance know if there is a way of determining if this pair was originally made for US as the listing stated or if they are actually UK. Ive read that some of the shoes sold during the annual big sale are actually made on a different last which could also be a issue I suppose. Here are a few pictures of the codes on the inside of the shoe and box incase any of you shoe savants know how to decipher the code. Thanks ahead of time.

The fact that they're sized 12D strongly suggests that they're for the US market. D is narrow fitting for C&J, and C&J makes only a few select models in D and the made for RL shoes are not them.

Good point, I forgot UK uses different letters for labeling the width. Thank you

Marlow Monday

Decided to go with my Marlows today. I thought it made a nice companion to my blue suit.

Cheers!

Very interesting that you take the Giannis TTS (with many sizing down 1/2 or 1). A reminder that every foot is different. nod[1].gif

I take the Lindrick TTS. Great looking boots!!
