Thank you for your email and interest in our shoes.
We can do these group orders but it tends to be on shoes that are discontinued or just a colour variation on something we are currently running.
Your requested modifications are not too difficult but I would stress that if we did go ahead with the order all shoes ordered would not be exchangeable or refundable as they would not be a current line that we keep in store.
We can however modify a pair off the shelf with a different sole unit but that's all, which is at a cost of £60 and takes around 6 weeks. This will be a pair that is made already and not ordered from day one with this modification.
Also, if you do go ahead with the order then it will require full payment for each pair before we place the order.

The order will take around 10-12 weeks as our factory is the busiest it's been for 70 years, so it will take time.

Best Regards

Steve Murdoch

General Manager
Crockett and Jones Ltd

... No idea on pricing yet and of course the details and modifications would need to be fine tuned. Is anyone else interested in going in for this? I'm very serious and could start a new thread to discuss the details - maybe shoot me a PM if interested.

So about £800?

And dark brown instead of #8.

Not sure - have emailed to find out prices. Pretty sure I read on the website that orders sent out of Europe would have VAT discounted.

I heard back from Steve at C&J today...

The cost of Harlech is £575 but as a non EU customer we will take off the VAT so the price will be £479 plus an shipping costs.
If you want to go ahead with the order I will designate my assistant Lauren to deal with all the orders and collate the sizes.
Your associates would need to try the boot on in one of our stores to get the correct fitting and then email Lauren the information.
Lauren will then place the order.

What do people think? Should I set up a separate thread to fine tune the details?

I've mentioned this in the ** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** but thought I would post here too.

If anyone is interested in getting on the Modified Brown Cordovan Harlech MTO I'm trying to set up just get in touch. I'm going to head to C&J NY tomorrow to try on the 341 last. At the moment we have 3 interested parties and need to get to 6 to place the order.

Feel free to PM me with any questions or have a look at the MTO thread I have setup HERE.

Apparently the Lindricks are label a whole size difference between US and UK size - or so says an ebay listing.

Would love to know what the real C&J_UK size is for a RL labelled US9 is ....

So I tried on the Marlow today. I also tried the C&J Cardiff. Seems they are on the same last (325). Both are to long and thin in the toe area, which is terrible because I love the shoe. I am very demanding when it comes to comfort though.

Is the alden 975 wider and blunter in the toe? I would love recomendations for any other wings which are not as slim as the Marlow (preferably cordovan).

I replied you in the other topic, btw:

UK 8.5 for US D
UK 8 for US E

This considering the box.

That's weird. The UK 8 is wider than the UK 8.5?

it might be if ....

US9E = CJUK 8G
US9D = CJUK 8.5E

it they were both CJ E widths then the 9E would be both narrower and shorter than the 9D! :paranoia:

(the 325 comes in E & G CJ widths)

The 325 in the actual C&J catalogue is only UK E (G width of the pembroke is on the 317 last)

C&J (and every else maker) Last catalogue is full of widths and archive lasts not in current collection, used only for private labels, mto, etc.

So probably the 325 last US E, is simply a UK F width of the 325.

I hope C&J could one day clarify all these doubt we have...

PS the marlow penny loafer on 314 is/was made on US D, US E and US EE width, and C&J have in current catalogue the 314 in all these widths: Uk E/G boston, Uk F the lincoln

IJReilly, sorry to hear you couldn't fit into the RL Marlow, it's a great looking shoe and I like mine a lot. It is a tad snug compared to my Alden wingtips, but surprisingly I've been able to wear them all day long without a problem. I thought C&J still offered a shell cordovan wingtip through their UK outlets. If you need a wider shoe I'd email them and ask if they can help you out. I highly recommend the Alden 975, it's super comfy and quite roomy. Go try some on and see what you think.

I tried on a cordovan Cardiff. Again, a wonderful looking shoe but to tight in the toe area. I think the problem is that my feet are curved. Going to Paris tonight, so hopefully I'll find something on the modified last at Anatomica (never tried it before but I have high expectations!)! Otherwise I'll go for the 975, since I have the 990 and absolutely adore it.
