As far as I can tell the Marlow and Lindrick look pretty similar - color, last, brand. These would be my first cordovan purchases and I don't plan on getting many more shoes after this (I own 3 pairs so far). What are your guys' thoughts?
I have both and I'll say that while there is enough stylistic overlap that the average person seeing you won't be able to tell the difference (especially when standing since there isn't any real discernable difference) they still play very different roles for me. The shoes wear cooler and get more use during the summer while the boots wear warmer and see more use during the winter. Also, since I have a serious boot fetish but still wanted a shoe that I could occasionally use as a more casual option, I felt the need to have both.
I think the bottom line is you can cover your "very nice, shell shoe" bases with just either, but if you're fortunate enough to get both you'll probably be glad you did. Even if the rest of the world can't really tell.
