Thanks!

In the past, the instructions have been to send them to C&J in New York. They forward the shoes to the U.K. on your behalf.

Over $200. to have C&J do it.  I think I'll just send to B. Nelson when the time comes, unless the uppers and or inside lining needs re-doing.

I'm thinking about getting the Marlow penny while they're on sale. I've already got the Alden cigar LHS. Would having both be redundant? I wear an 11D in the RL wingtip. What size would I need in the RL penny-loafer? Anyone who has experience with both the RL penny and the Alden LHS please don't hesitate to chime in. Thanks.

I wear an 11D in the Alden LHS and an 11D in the Marlow Wingtip. My Marlow Pennys (edit: 11D) rarely get worn. Feel a bit narrow to me in the toe-box. Length I find them to be the same, but as we talked about with the wings... my foot ain't your foot.

gentpax, what a coincidence we wear the same size in both the Marlow and the LHS. I appreciate the incite. The Marlows are rapidly becoming my favorite pair of shoes. My Alden LHS's are so comfortable that I wear them around the house as if they were slippers, so we'll see. You know how it is when you get that shell fever.

If the Lindricks feel as good as the Marlows I'm definitely hoping to recreate your photograph. A very nice looking couple of horses butt shoes!

Thank you, and good luck with your quest.

I'm two years into pretty heavy wear with my Marlow wingtips, and the sole is still in great shape

I think RL corporate generally intends to exclude the cordovan shoes from the private sales, but due to website/technical bugs/negligence or incorrect/incomplete instruction to SA or just plain error, they tend get sold at sale prices anyway. I have been told by astute in store managers that cordovan was excluded from the sale only to find them on sale on the website. I've also heard of other SAs in other stores giving the discount on the cordovan seemingly unaware of any restriction while some SAs refuse.

That said, I purchased my Marlows during a private sale when cordovan shoes were explicitly included in the sale a couple of years

This same issue pops with J Crew and Alden shoes.

GIS ends tomm.
If anybody is interested in anything on website at greater discount than 25% message me.

I just received some Marlow wingtips from the 25% sale. Unfortunately they've already been packaged up and are on their way back. Here is why:

On both shoes, if the heel is on a flat surface, the lowest part of the sole is about a quarter inch elevated. This creates a pivot point at the front of the heel piece that puts a lot of weight all at that point, which is not comfortable at all.

I've had the odd shoe or two like this before which is a defect, but in this case it's exactly the same on BOTH shoes!

Is this typical of C&J construction?

From the website it would suggest so...

Received my Marlow wingtips today as well.  Experiencing the same as you gsgleason.  The heel does indeed create a pivot point.  I assume over time the heel will flatten and this will become less noticeable.  I am on the fence about whether or not to return these, as I have a very small bit of heel slip on right, and a bit more on the left.  As a comparison, AE 5 last fits me almost perfect after break in, but it is an overall narrower last.  The Marlows off the bat are more comfortable, more room across the vamp, not excessively so.  The length going TTS in my US size is just right, I do not think I could size down a half size without having issues in the toe box.

I guess the ultimate question is, will the slight amount of heel slip disappear after break in?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  The sizing on these things is really YMMV.  Too bad the local RL store didn't have my sizes in stock to try on to compare.

Thanks
