Okay, sorry man. That was a misunderstanding. I see how if you didn't click the link, you thought I had a "collection" of one pair of shoes. And, if someone told me that, I would probably suggest that they not buy one of the RL shoes, as you suggested.

Both would be nice, but I would like to stick to one or the other (Lindrick or Marlow) for the time being. Perhaps I will reassess later after owning one of them for a bit. Agreed that a pair of loafers would be a good addition.

Just ordered a pair of Lindricks.

 

Based on what I see here if you wear Alden Barrie Last 11 D the Lindrick should be fine in 11 1/2 correct?

I've heard of people going Barrie and Barrie + 1/2, I think.

I'm sure this has been covered, so I apologize, but do we know for sure whether the Lindricks sold today are calf or shell? I know they used to be shell, and perhaps the website just doesn't correctly list them as shell? The black version is called "Lindrick Calf Boot" and the dark brown one is "Lindrick Boot." Also, they are the same price.

Yeah I checked a bit more and it appears some of the core SF users went 1/2 down or Barrie, so I went ahead cancelled the initial order of 11 1/2 D and went with a size 11 D instead.

Yeah, I got the impression that Black is Calf and Brown is Cordovan.

 

I went with Brown.

Open laced shoes are derbies or bluchers (or in some cases, Gibsons).

 

Both can be plain toed, cap toed, wingtip brogues, semi-brogues, etc.

Out of interest, has anyone who owns the Lindricks put rubber on the soles to prevent slippage in wet weather?

Ah, ok. I've had mine for 2 months now and I actually slipped and fell with them yesterday on a street corner. The pavement was dry but very smooth and I was just crossing the street - I'm still not sure what happened. I'm probably going to get them topy'd soon. 

 

Interesting to know if anyone else has had a similar issue.

I was actually able to do as you suggested.

 

 

I refreshed the site and eventually a size 11 1/5 became availible.

 

 

After reading this thread a bit more I'm glad I was able to get both sizes.

 

It does appear they are a bit shorter and narrower than the Alden Barrie Last and I may just require that 11 1/2 D size after all.
