Crockett & Jones for Ralph Lauren Cordovan (Marlow, Darlton, Gifford, Garran, Lindrick, McCallum,... - Page 84

If I remember correctly, Mr. Porter sold the Marlow Wingtip in wide widths. Can anyone verify this?

If so, I have a brand new pair of Marlow Wingtips size 10D that I am probably going to have to put up for sale to help fund that purchase when it becomes available.

My wingtips arrived. I took a bit of a chance with the sizing. I have the PTB and Lindrick, in 8D and 8E respectively, and both are a little big. I figured I would try the 7.5 (got a D - I should have asked for an E). They are rather tight! Heel fits perfectly, but a little tight in the sides. Can I expect some degree of the shoe stretching - how does shell behave over time?

Perfect.

Personally, if the shoe fits in the heel and is a little tight when new I know I have the right fit 9providing my toe does not collide with the front of course.

Shell is a great leather for shaping, but it will take a few wears.

It sounds to me like you have the perfect fit.

But how do the toes feel? Most claim a better fit sizing 1/2 down on Lindrick's or Marlows, but I've found it's too snug on the toes, an area which will not stretch. So I opt TTS with some roominess, which I chalk up to the nature of the last. But fit has become better over time as the double sole has flexed a bit more.

I spoke with a SA yesterday and she said "don't worry Sir, the sale extends through to May 7th, the discount will still apply if Sir orders tomorrow"

Today the SA says "sorry Sir, there appears to be an error on our website which has been corrected and updated today"   -  grrrr

I did not buy straight away because the SA said she could only sell me a 10D, but, if i waited for today she could get a pair of 10E from another store.

Today she can get a 10E, but no discount!!!!

Why didn't I buy the shoes, leave them with her and then return for an exchange in the correct size!!!!!

Is Sir bloody stoooopid?

shit shit shit shit shit!!!!

surprised the SA couldnt honor the discount for you ... she should have asked the manager to just do it since she promised you it would be included. sucks ... looks like lots of people got screwed over this

I was worried about the little toe, but it does not feel like it touches the side. My 8 PTBs the heel is much too roomy. Does RL stock the wingtip in wide sizes?

no. 325 is a kooky last. tts is too big in the heel, size down and its too short and pinky gets squished. I opted to go with the larger size. only downside is lots of wrinkles because of the additional space in the last.

Yes C&J make them (all models) on E width for the EU market (see UK RL site)

Unfortunately here in Europe that aren't the big sales like in USA so they are really expensive.

Can you guys aware me of where to find the PTB in an e-width. I only thought d-widths were available (and that was what I was told from the mansion).

so i purchased the tassels and pennys from last year both the same size as my lindricks in 8.5. still have them new in box never worn

would RL accept it if i bought 8s in both tassels and pennys and returned the one that didnt fit? i might end up taking 8.5 anyway but since its been over a year, would they cry foul if i return and 8.5 in a shipment of 8?

Maybe you could just go in store and exchange? SA probably wouldn't notice they were marked at a lower retail price

hmmm maybe ill do that

but wouldnt the first thing they ask for be a receipt? i dont have my physical receipt just the online look up of my orders under my email account

i also dont know if the georgetown store even has the marlows in stock but i guess they could find it and ship to me

i could also lie and say they shipped me the wrong size but dont think that will work if i end up needing to do that for both pairs lol
