I have a pair of Tramezza captoes that I absolutely love. I've also more or less walked them to near death.
I visited a Ferragamo store and casually asked if they had Tramezzas (they had a couple) and mentioned to the SA that I had an old pair that's quite worn down now. She mentioned they have a refinishing service (soles and uppers) for about $140. The work is done somewhere in New Jersey. Has anyone heard about this service or tried it? How might they compare to the local cobbler?
I need new soles and heels for sure. The top parts of the uppers are in fairly good condition, however the lower areas on the sides have definitely taken a beating due to several wear-every-single-day-and-walk-them-through-salty-slush years from a time when I didn't know better. I've taken very good care of them in recent years (stripped all the wax, tons of conditioning and cream/polish/wax coats) and they look quite nice, there are a few bits of cracked leather on the sides. I do not know if the refinishing process would address this in anyway.
