I hope those jackets were already in unwearable condition...

From what I remember, the website said that they were. Either that, or there's some lovely tweed jackets with wallet shaped holes in them!

I have the opposite reaction to our esteemed Doctor Holliday. I quite like the square, kinda "meh" about the tie. Also, would the good doctor care to elaborate on his aversion to gingham with tweed?

It does seem rather spring/summer to me, too, but I think a brown gingham could be an interesting choice for fall. Vox's fit above pushes up against this for me, but ultimately I think it works here.

:)

Gingham is its own type of fabric, so it's useful to distinguish between gingham on one hand and a gingham-based pattern or pin check on the other.

The gingham pattern made its way into dress shirting through a type of fine Madras (which is a gingham) that was popular for sportswear shirts in America before WWII. Now, of course, it is a pattern that is as nearly universal as stripes on any quality of shirt fabric.

Based on this history, an argument can be made that gingham is best kept for summer sportswear. But, if you kept to that, you would miss wearing gingham patterns with suits year round, an application for which it looks terrific.

I'm also wearing a semi-spread collar with tweed. Worst of all?

I'm wearing tweed in the city. That's unforgivable.

As for tattersalls, there's the Tattersall and then a whole bunch of faux tattersalls (just like there is a PoW check and then a whole bunch of checks passing themselves off as PoW checks.) Once you go faux tattersall, you might as well throw in the towel on the faux gingham (at least, that's been my theory.)

I do have some tattersalls, real and faux, in the works from Dege...

If tweed in the city is wrong, I don't want to be right. Well, at least until I build the country house...

If tweed is wrong in the city, the city is wrong! Sugarbutch, that is an outstanding coat. Well worn, that man.

Fantastic coat, shirt, tie and square FC. Can you post full length pics as I'd be interested in seeing your choice of pantaloon.
