Thanks,
Can you tell the width? are they as light as your picture shows them? they seem darker on the website

The first four ties I ordered had a width of 9 cm (3,55''). The last one had 8 cm (3,15''). Maybe the newer ones are a little bit narrower.

The colours of my photos are a little bit to light. The photos from the website regive the real colours very good.

Do they make a good knot? since they are pretty thick... and wide

I am satisfied with the 4 IH-knot I made with the tweed ties. Here a small pic from a knot with a tweed tie:

Single breasted, notch lapel three buttons with patch flapped pockets, take a photo to your tailor.

Just ordered a 3-piece in this fabric:

Two button single breasted jacket with flap pockets and ticket pocket, high-waisted pleated trou for braces, and single breasted 5-button waistcoat with notch lapels.

Getting a few tweeds back from the tailor for winter. A brown herringbone Donegal (Magee?) which will be it's first season and had this vintage Norman Hilton one shaped a bit more. I'm also considering trying to get this Orvis to work, would be my first Harris.

Warning: Donegal! (Click to show)

That Norman Hilton?  With the blue OCBD and decoy emblematic tie?  I am absolutely stunned!  Magnificent, just magnificent.

Sadly the new Hilton run by Nick Hilton (son) is a mens's store in Princeton NJ with its' own label,
not a manufacturer of high -end trad clothing. It's current collection is "updated" trad clothing.
"Updated" here mainly means short and tight. There is also a "custom" program called Norman Hilton.
I owned Hilton clothing from the period shown along with Chipp. Both made jackets that fit me
almost perfectly without alteration.

O'Connells carires some very elegantly- cut sport coats that carry the Hilton label. I assume
that it is the same Hilton, but not "updated"

I recently treated myself to a fairisle cardigan, but which tweed would go well over it? It's quite chunky, so nothing too smooth, I guess...

Yes.. its that time of the year isnt it.. when the heavier tweed are released from the wardrobe... Definitely my favourite time of the year!!
