Indeed.

I'm really wanting a grey Donegal jacket recently. Debating whether to try to find vintage or have one made up.

While maintaining that being hard to please only gets you pleased less often, I admit that the half Norfolk really speaks to me.  My chances of thrifting such a garment are slim, sadly, so it looks like I'm going to have to break down and order one from Mears.

Then what sort of machine are you?

i want a nice donegal fleck in navy or charcoal grey. don't know where to get it without paying through the nose though

I have spent a not inconsiderable amount of time driving around the internets looking for such a jacket with no joy. If you find a source please share with us. (Although tell me first before you mention it to these other tweed toting retrobates)

I don't know how your define "through the nose" but I would contact Mears and ask them what they can come up with.  When you figure that their prices include VAT which is not charged to us here on the other side of the pond, I think their prices are remarkably reasonable.

Would you mind disclosing the manufacturer of these garments? Do you buy OTR, from ebay, or are they all bespoke?

I am having a heck of a time finding a decently cut double-vented tweed sport coat that is reasonably priced. I think we should list some reliable outlets for people in my situation who are trying to join the club. What are the best sources for tweed sport coats that aren't designed poorly?

Can US residents shop on EBay UK? I've never tried
post #1529 of 2247

2nd tweed pickup is this Magee Tweed one. Wanted something a bit different and also wanted something with elbow patches and this fit the bill. Also am finding with my height (6'2") that 3 buttons work well.

Looking for a Harris next to compare the difference between the irish tweed. Can't wait for this to arrive (as well as the first charcoal/grey BB herringbone).

That is where I picked up the above Magee Tweed. Just have to find a seller willing to ship to US. It is more expensive, but they have a greater selection of Donegal tweeds there.
