The Official Tweed Appreciation Thread - Page 96

Do most of you guys buy fabric from the mills and have it made up for you by a tailor, or just buy the jacket from a company/tailor who also supplied the fabric?

And for those who buy fabric from the mills, how much is the CMT?

Can't wait for it to arrive.

I got to say I'm obsessed with tweed now to the point my GF calls it watching tweed porn on the internet. Have my eye on a couple others....

Good man, tweed is very addictive! biggrin.gif

By Johnston's you mean Johnston's of Elgin? I think I have that very same scarf! tounge.gif Funny, because so far I only have two woollen scarves.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

This is my latest tweedish coat, still a bit warm to wear it:

Far too warm for tweed yet, here.  It will take at least until October, perhaps longer depending on the jet stream.

Not suiting, but I picked up two gorgeous Donegal scarves yesterday - I've been wanting a few scarves like this for a long time and am so excited for winter this year:

Very nice. Where were they purchased if I may be so bold to ask?

Tweed scarves? How do they feel against the skin? Scratchy? I'd never known such an animal existed until your post. Need more info! biggrin.gif

Epaulet has just put up switches for their fall MTO Harris tweed sport coats. These have a nice slim (not skinny) fit, and you can customise the details:

I think Mike told someone in the thread that it might also be possible to order trousers in the same fabric, although it might not be cheap.

My last issue now is finding a bow-tie. I'm planning on using thetiebar.com for the bow-tie, and I've picked out a handful that I like. However, I would love to hear feedback, since I am decidely a neophyte at this sort of stuff. If there are any other bow-ties on the site that you think would work better that I have missed, let me know.

last notes: my fiancee is wearing a champagne dress and the bridesmaids are in dusty rose and shale.

thanks in advance!

Feedback? I like the tweed jacket actually, but the outfit (aside from the bow tie) speaks to me more of a rough night out in the saloon bar of a pub having spent the day digging ditches, than of a wedding. You must have a very deep-rooted objection to lounge suits to be thinking in these terms.

Mike figured the trousers, fully lined, would run up to $400.
