Guys, I love that coat. But can we please use spoiler tags? Mobile browsing has been impossible for me :cloud:

Just a few of the new Harris Tweed arrivals on the website...

I am now adding a close up slice of the Harris Tweed to show fabrics better when browsing the website and you can now hover zoom over images in the categories ... let me know what you think and if it makes it easier to browse them?

Denise : )

Wow, I can almost smell that musty smell of vintage tweed....

That's a damn fine cloth.

I dunno why but for some reason I pictured Spoo a bit more heavy set. :)

Just a note that the two Polo MTM 44L beauties above have now gone to ebay. The top one, a shetland tweed with a windowpane plaid, includes the matching vest.

Their buddies remain here.

Not sure if this can be considered tweed, but the fabric is hawt (cash blend).

Debating whether I should keep this.

I have a dark brown herringbone in a similar blend and like the soft feel of it.

Does anyone know if somewhere out there in the fabric world there is a weaver who makes a dark green on blue herringbone? I would kill for a coat like that . . .

Breanish tweed will do custom short lengths for you. Not sure about the price, though.

As for the SpooCoat, I think it the fabric may come from the Bateman Ogden Glenhunt book. There used to be an eBay seller called AKSTextiles who had it on sale.

I saw one this weekend at a vintage store that I would have purchased if it was not a huge size. I think your best bet would be to try to thrift or buy a 1960's one at a vintage store, unless you want to pay top dollar for a special tweed design.

Given the minimal number of tweed wearers here in SoCal, I'm afraid my choice is more likely between custom weaving and ebay. Thrift stores around here carry lots of interesting stuff but tweed is relatively rare. It seems to be a bit on the uptake at present but that does little for the thrift shopper. Thanx, everyone.

Don't know if anyone's seen this:

A great little documentary about tweed. For those of you on the other side of the pond, Vic Reeves is best known as one half of surrealist comedy duo Reeves and Mortimer.
