Canvassed/Fused- Wrinkle factor?

Thread Starter

I notice my suits wrinkle at the back of the jacket....usually when I'm too lazy to take my jacket off before driving in the car.

Do canvassed suits wrinkle less in the back of the jacket than fused?

I hate to beat the canvassed/fused topic to death but I've never seen an answer to this.

Thanks in advance.

Fusing causes the lapels to wrinkle and lose their shape over time. If you sit a lot in your jacket, the back is going to wrinkle.

Neither type of jacket has any interfacing in the back, so there will be zero difference in how wrinkled the back of the jacket gets. The canvas or fusible is only used in the front of the coat, except for in women's coats where sometimes the upper back is interfaced.

aren't the suits made with another layer of some type of fabric underneath to supposedly hold their shape and minimize wrinkling?

In the front, yes. Not in the back. There is the lining, of course, which helps a bit, unless the coat is unlined, but no canvas or fusible like in the front.
