Outdoors - Wolverine Wickham VS AE McAllister ?

Gentlemen,

First time poster, long time lurker. I must say, I am expecting some abuse for considering either of these options.

My circumstances, however, are unusual. I am looking for a pair of shoes to wear with a slacks/blazer outfit, in the driveways of fairly rural Canadian homes in winter. That is why I do not want to spend too much.

I am leaning towards the Wolverines as they seem tougher, but Im not sure that they are acceptable business attire.

Opinions ??

Thanks.

the wolverines look a little funny. The mcallister is a better looking shoe without a doubt, but if you are trapsing through the snow, then the wolverine is probably a better bet.

Then again, I'm not sure I'd buy either at their list prices for your purposes

Have you considered a dress boot w/ a dainite sole?

Or double-soled shell if you can find in your price range.

I just looked at those options, thanks.

The problem I have is that I am very concerned about m the way the shoes look. I want them to look as classic as possible, but I will have to wear them in bad weather, which is why I am looking at the lower end of good shoes.

I won't be hiking, but I will be standing and walking in ploughed driveways.

Quadcammer, your comment about them looking funny made me take another look, and now they look funny to me.

AE it is.

McAllister is a great shoe but maybe look at the Quinton or Lombard or something else with a rubber sole too. A leather sole can be slippery as hell on ice.

Buy the McAllisters and have TOPY's put on the soles by your local friendly cobbler. This will protect the soles from moisture and salt damage.
You may then stand and walk in ploughed driveways for a lifetime. Interesting hobby you have. Please send us a photo or two of you in action

lol8[1].gif Canada, my friend, unavoidable if you want to do business with people. If all goes well I will have to meet with some very wealthy people to discuss installing surveillance on their properties, when I do the real work I will dress accordingly, however I want to make a good first impression.

Thanks for Topys tip.
