Red Wing Iron Ranger proper fit? How much do these stretch?

I've been looking at getting a great pair of boots for some time now that would last me years if I take the proper care.

I've got in narrowed down to the Wolverine 1000 milers, and the Red Wing Iron Rangers.

I've been leaning towards the Iron Rangers as I was able to try a pair on locally.

I typically wear size 11, but found the size 10 to be the best fit overall, with some tightness in the toe box (slight) as well as the sides (very tight, but seemed to loosen a tad as I walked around the store.)

My problem is this...

I prefer them in black.

The Red Wing's do not come in wide EE width in black, but only in standard width D.

Alternate colors such as their Amber Brown do come in the wider widths.

Would you recommend...

1 - Purchase the size 10s in black, and apply oils and whatnot to break them in, and stretch the leather to a comfortable fit.

2 - Purchase a half size up 10.5 in black, and break in as usual allowing for a looser fit

3 - Purchase the size 10 wide in Amber Brown and have the shoes dyed black, then break in

4 - Purchase the size 10 wide in Amber Brown and suck it up, as any other option would affect the leather poorly

Thanks!

I've been hovering over the forum for some time now, but was unable to find a proper answer so I felt it right to take the plunge.

Be gentle...

Try Streetwear board.

IR's come in EE width, in black - just maybe not at your store. With boots, it's better to go bigger and add an insole. This allows for all sock thicknesses to be a possibility.
