It's hilarious to think that she'd have been perfectly safe (and just as accurate) if she'd have replaced "gays" with "men".

Matchmaker: There is no curbing the gay
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Stanger apologizes on her Twitter account
She says she didn't mean to offend anyone
"There's no curbing the gay," she says
Stanger defends her record on support of gay dating and marriage
(CNN) -- Patti Stanger, the star of Bravo's "The Millionaire Matchmaker," issued an apology for saying gay men have difficulty staying monogamous.
She made the comments on another Bravo show "Watch What Happens Live," which aired Sunday.
In response to a caller who wanted to know if long-distance, open relationships are possible, Stanger said, "In the gay world, there's always going to be open (relationships). ... There is no curbing the gay."
She asked the caller if he was gay. When he said yes, Stanger said, "I've tried to curb you people."
Patti Stanger's recession dating rules
Stanger's apology came via her Twitter account the next day, following a firestorm of negative comments online.
"Attn male Gays: I support you," she said. "So sorry -- didn't mean to offend anyone. Love you all. X0."
On HLN's "The Joy Behar Show," Stanger said she apologizes if GLAAD -- the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation -- was offended and then touted her record of support for gay dating and marriage during the five years of her matchmaker show.
The apology did not sit well with many.
"'I didn't mean to offend you' ≠ 'What I said was bigoted and wrong,'" Matt Algren of Dayton, Ohio, tweeted, while another post said: "More homophobic generalizations. Just stop girl. You're done."

I really really hate this person. Dont watch the show, but seen a few episodes with an ex a few years back, and really developed a strong hate for her. Screw her; and not in a WYHI kinda way. Hope she gets in trouble, or exposed as a gay-hating illegal maid owning Herpes infused charlatan.

Saw her on CNN on the Dating During the Recession piece, what immediately came to mind was shallow. Now sticking her Jimmy Choo shod foot firmly in her mouth over her gay comment, now that was plain dumb. What would be good karmic justice is a messy break up including restraining order.

I saw one episode of this show. It was actually completely hilarious in that everyone on the television screen was complete garbage. The rich asshole men who wanted to bone hot chicks, the scheming gold diggers desperate for attention, and this dumb airhead who provides the service.

Having said that, while what she said is factually incorrect, I don't think she should lose her job because of that.

I mean, she should lose her job because her job is odious and reprehensible; but not because she insulted a group.

Actually, reading what she said, I don't think it is factually incorrect, if only because her command of the language is atrocious.

This is true, for both gays and heteros.

I've no doubt she's tried to curb "you people".

Never trust anyone who prefaces a group with the word "the" (e.g. the blacks, the gays, the Asians, etc.). It's basically the shortened version of "I'm not racist/sexist/homophobic, but..."

That sounds awfully prejudiced towards people who use "the" to refer to a group of people.
