$1000 Burberry "Made in italy" suit with sealed off breast pocket...Explain this bullsh*t

Really? I was trying this suit on at Saks, and as I'm going to feel if the breast functional, it turns out it's stitched shut! I'd expect this from a Macy's suit or something much cheaper, but come on! What's the point of even sealing it off?

Not sure if serious.

It is quite common that the breast pocket, along with the hip pockets of the jacket to be sewn closed. Perhaps to prevent non-purchasers who are trying on the garments from inadvertently (or purposely) putting something in the pockets. The pockets can be unstitched quite easily after purchasing.

I tried one on at Saks the other day and the vent was stitched closed! Can you believe it? To top it off, the company had a label on the sleeve! What's the world of men's clothing come to?

If serious, most suits have their pockets sealed. You can just go in with a razorblade or knife. I think every suit I've ever purchased had all exterior jacket pockets sealed. On the same note, the white basting on the shoulders are also to be removed. I'm unsure of the actual reasoning, but I've heard the sealing is to prevent damage in transit (maybe to prevent pockets from snagging).

^ Its mostly because pockets will eventually sag. A suit may come out of a factory and sit in storage for 6 months before hitting the shop. At that stage it may hang around for another 3 months before its purchased. Plenty of time to sagging, snagging and filling that is unwanted.

OP, please post and say something like "ok, got it" after reading your answer. It is okay, we were all new once.

The OP post is not all that surprising. I have seen people leave the sleeve label on a new suit, I wonder how many years it takes before open the pockets.
