I ordered a leather case from Swaine Adeney Brigg several months ago. I tried to contact them to find out what happened to my order. Neither my emails nor my calls got answered.

Now, I found the following entry that notes that SAB is "in administration": http://opencorporates.com/companies/gb/04672950

Does someone know what this means exactly?

Many thanks for your help!

Other companies I found by randomly changing the number in the URL seem to be Active or Dissolved, and tending predominantly toward the latter.

Could they be in the midst of reorganization/bankruptcy/buyout proceedings?

It means they're (almost) bankrupt.

Interesting.

+1.

Their shop on St. James is constantly empty. In fact - I don't think I've ever seen another soul in there and I usually pop in once a month.

It would be a great shame if this was the case.

Thank you very much for your answers.

Does anyone know who owns SAB?

Nice shop/location. Never seen more than two other customers. Can't believe it'll just disappear.

What they lack in customers they make up for in unoccupied help.

Quite the contrast between there and the Smith shop. Visiting Smith is like stepping back into the 19th century, yet it's far more lively and less museum-like than the Brigg shop.

huge shame if they go under.

Totally. SAB is something that I hope to get when I grow older. I've been considering an umbrella/briefcase from them for years but keep stopping and saying to myself that it is something to get when I'm confidently successful and at one with the establishment rather than an impulse luxury buy...I hope they don't go under.
