yet another "My shoe collection: what pair should I get next?"

About 4.5 years ago, I cast off my corrected grain Kenneth Cole New York shoes and began the upgrade process. Like many new to SF, I've made many mistakes along the way while figuring out my size and my last preferences, having bought then sold seven pairs along the way to get to what I have now.
shoes.jpg
Top L to R: bal boots from Zee's HK, John Lobb Tudor, John Lobb Newland
Middle: Trickers Henley, Allen Edmonds Jackson, Santoni Brenden
Bottom: John Lobb Stafford, Santoni Bristol, Santoni Jensen

Only the AE Jackson and Santoni Jensen have rubber soles. The bal boots and the Trickers have Topy. I have lots of balmorals, so I figure my next pair should be a brown wingtip blucher with rubber soles for bad weather. I was thinking Alden but they seem a bit boring/"old man" to me.

Suggestions for my next pair? Budget is $250-$500, live in Washington DC, prefer to purchase in store or online w/ returns. I'm not really into secondhand nor loafers/slipons though the EG for RLPL Eden interests me.

Also, which of these work well with jeans (or suggest a new pair that does)? Thanks.

Your collection is crying out for Suede anything !! And a pair of suede semi or full brogues would go great with jeans. Suede chukkas ??

Hmm.... maybe some brown loafers or brown suede chukkas...

And some wing-tips.

In serious, why nothing snazzy like wingtips?

thanks for the ideas so far. I like the suede chukka idea. Maybe a C&J boot but not on the 348 last; too long and pointy on me (Tetbury was one of my earlier mistakes).

No wingtips so far primarily due to budget constraints. My first few pairs were purchased at Nordstrom Rack for less than $200 and they don't have much variety in my size/width. I'm only now getting comfortable to spend a bit more i.e. the Lobbs, which most certainly were not purchased at full retail. I'd love to go to an AE shoe bank.

Have a look at "A fine pair of shoes" they have some AS suede brogues and chukkas all at decent prices.

Good collection so far. A wingtip or a suede chukka are great ideas. Personally, I would save a bit more and research getting a pair of Vass. Everyone loves them. I'm trying to get ahold of a pair myself to see how amazing they really are. Otherwise like you said a C&J boot would be a good fit for your collection.

suedes

those AE jackson are ugly
the santonis are nice
but you could use loafers to be casual. pref suede and split toe, but not necessary

+1 on the suedes. And a loafer or two...

Nice collection. I agree with the other writer, brown suede chukkas.

You're in DC. Stop by Sky Valet and see if there's anything that catches your eye. The Alden wingtip bal in suede might meet your needs. Or perhaps the C&J Hallam in suede. Personally, I think you need a wholecut. C&J makes the Alex.
